JOHNSON CITY -- Innovation Associates, a pharmacy company has announced that it continues to make "major headway" in the hospital market with a new order from Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, Calif.
The hospital implemented some of the firm's PharmASSIST systems as a key part of its ongoing patient safety initiative.
"Many U.S. hospitals are in the midst of implementing patient safety initiatives, and technology is playing a major role -- which bodes well for Innovation," company representative James Reno said.
Innovation declined to disclose the monetary value of the work but said the hospital recently invested more than $2.5 million in various medication dispensing and delivery technologies that enhance patient safety through the use of bar code scanning and stringent quality control.
Little Company of Mary Hospital is using Innovation's PharmASSIST ROBOTx and PharmASSIST Sym- phony systems. ROBOTx is a robotic, pill dispensing system. Symphony is a workflow management system.
The systems streamlined processes, eliminated bottlenecks and freed pharmacists for patient consultation, said Muno Bholat, pharmacy director at the hospital.
The pharmacy processes an average of 200 prescriptions daily, with peaks reaching 250, Innovation said.
Johnson City-based Innovation employs more than 150 people, Reno said.
