BSC completes 'milestone' for trainer
1/20/2009 (Source: Press & Sun Bulletin)
BINGHAMTON Binghamton Simulator Co. said Monday it has successfully completed the critical design review with Navy representatives for the new Aircrew Virtual Environment Trainer.
The AVET is the first trainer of its kind to be used by the Navy, making completion of the review a "huge milestone for everyone involved," BSC said.
The device will be used to train H-60 aircrew members in aerial gunnery, hoist operations, confined area landings, emergency procedures and more.
BSC now begins the task of building the AVET, which will be deployed to Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, Calif., in late 2009.
