16th Annual STOP-DWI Holiday Classic

=$prPicture;?>BINGHAMTON, NY - Organizers of the 16th Annual STOP-DWI Holiday Classic held a news conference at Binghamton High School today to announce tournament details with local teams, members of local law enforcement and elected officials. The Annual Charlie Howland Memorial Luncheon was held for attendees following the news conference. Each year the tournament is held during high school winter break, which has assisted drawing premier teams from around the nation to participate. This year the tournament will take place December 28th-30th at the Broome County Veteran's Memorial Arena.

“Broome County's STOP-DWI Holiday Classic delivers a weekend of high caliber boy's basketball coupled with an important message,” said Barbara Fiala, Broome County Executive. “I want to thank STOP-DWI coordinator Jim May and the sponsors and organizers that make this event such a success. I welcome everyone to our Broome County Veteran's Memorial Arena to enjoy the competition and the exceptional national talent that will be on display.”

The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic will feature eight team national division and two four team regional divisions. Action begins on December 27th at Binghamton High School gymnasium for the three-point and slam dunk competition beginning at 4pm. Before the skills competition, the National Double Dutch league from New York City will perform from 2PM until 3:45PM. For more tournament information please visit: www.bcstopdwi.com.

On Thursday, December 13th SUBWAY Restaurants will donate 50 cents for every six inch sub and $1 for ever foot long sub purchased to the STOP-DWI program. SUBWAY Restaurants are a major sponsor of the STOP-DWI tournament.
