Training Program Offered For Nurse Assistants

Broome Tioga Workforce New York, in cooperation with local businesses and educational institutions, is preparing workers for new jobs in the health care field.

The Certified Nurse Assistant Preparation program will be held March 3rd – 6th, 2008, to assist individuals in receiving exposure to the healthcare field before entering specific Nurse Assistant training and other healthcare positions available with local nursing and health-related facilities.

The training includes three-days of classes at Broome Community College. Classes will review basic work skills, vital health care issues, working in teams, patient sensitivity and death and dying. In addition, enrolled students will get exposure to proper lifting techniques at the college's Physical Therapy department.

Following the coursework at BCC, students will gain practical exposure to the duties of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at the Ideal Senior Living Facility in Endicott.
