Broome County Announces Details of Upcoming Honor Flight

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Founder of Twin Tiers Honor Flight Nancy Kane, Broome County Legislators, Commissioner of Aviation David Hickling, sponsors and more to announce details of the upcoming Honor Flight, leaving from the Greater Binghamton Airport.

The flight is scheduled for Saturday, November 12th, and will take off about 7:00 am.

“We are so honored to host the honor flight again,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.  “Sending our Veterans to Washington, D.C. to see these memorials is special, but even more special because it’s the day after Veterans Day.”

"The generosity of our sponsors and donors makes this and all future trips possible, and we are grateful for the many contributions that help Twin Tiers Honor Flight serve our honored veterans,” says Twin Tiers Honor Flight Founder Nancy Kane.   “The veterans are going to enjoy the trip of a lifetime on November 12, and we look forward to thanking them for their service and sacrifices with a day of tributes and recognition."

"We owe so much to our Veterans," says Broome County Legislator and Airport Advisory Board Member Ron Heebner.  "This Honor Flight is an opportunity for our Veterans to reflect on their service to our Country and I'm humbled to be able to help announce it. We must never forget: we're free because of their sacrifices."

The Honor Flight is a chance to honor the sacrifices of our Veterans.

Local World War II, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans, as well as any terminally ill veterans who served their Country, will be flown to Washington, D.C., free of charge, to visit and reflect at their memorials in our nation’s capital.

Guardians fly with Veterans on every flight, providing assistance and helping Veterans have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience.

The flight will take off from Hanger 1 at the Greater Binghamton Airport and will return at 8:30 pm that evening.

The community is invited to be there when these Veterans return for the Homecoming to thank them for their dedication and service to our Country.

The major sponsors of this year’s Honor Flight are Weis Markets, McGirk’s Irish Pub, Maines, Music City and Uno Chicago Grill.
