Broome County Government Closed to Non-Essential Personnel

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Services has closed Broome County Government to non-critical personnel to limit travel on the roads.

All personnel designated as critical personnel are expected to report at their regular start time.

“Based on the report we received from the National Weather Service, the major snowfall will arrive during normal business hours,” said Garnar. “We don’t want employees to be snowed in and unable to return to their families.”

The Broome County Jail is among those departments affected on Tuesday. Inmate visitation has been suspended for the day and will resume on Wednesday.

Broome County anticipates resuming regular operations Wednesday morning, March 15, 2017.
