Update from the Broome County Executive’s Office and Office of Emergency Services
6 a.m., April 7, 2017
The Broome County Office of Emergency Services has been monitoring the conditions and river levels overnight and communicating with the National Weather Service for the latest information.
As it was Thursday evening, the concern remains largely with the Susquehanna River which depending on the area will crest throughout the day Friday.
We continue to monitor the river gauges for Conklin and Vestal. “Moderate” flooding is still expected. Moderate flooding has an impact on properties along the river.
In Conklin, Conklin Road remains reduced to one lane in the area of the Fountain Bleu Trailer Park.
Additionally, the Broome County 911 center has reported the following roads in Broome County are closed:
Centerville Loop Road in Harpursville
Fallon Road in the Town of Chenango
The north end of Otsiningo Park in the Town of Chenango remains closed. Dorchester Park in Whitney Point is also still closed.
In addition, we are monitoring the river gauges for the Susquehanna River in Binghamton, Chenango Forks and Windsor. Minor flooding is expected near the river in those locations.
Up-to-date river gauge information can be found at www.water.weather.gov.
