Broome County Executive’s Office and Office of Emergency Issue Weather Update
11 p.m. Thursday, April 6
This evening, Broome County officials received an update from the National Weather Service.
We are still expecting “moderate” flooding at the Conklin and Vestal river gauges. Moderate flooding has an impact on properties along the river. We are expecting minimal impact to properties (i.e. basement flooding) in the following areas including not but limited to:
Woodcrest Way near the river
Conklin Road is reduced to one lane in the area of Fountain Bleu Trailer Park.
In the Town of Vestal, we are expecting to see minimal impact around Old Vestal Road and African Road.
Residents should monitor the rivers closely and stay tuned to local media for updates as they become available.
Due to heavy bands of rain, urban areas may see localized flooding due to poor drainage.
The north end of Otsiningo Park in the Town of Chenango is closed. Dorchester Park in Whitney Point is also closed.
Residents can visit the NOAA National Weather Service’s website at www.water.weather.gov for the latest information.
Members of the public are encouraged to register their mobile phone numbers and email accounts with NY-Alert at http://www.NYAlert.gov to receive emergency alerts.
