Broome County Executive Announces Plans For Shared Services Panel
Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Jason Garnar announced his efforts to work with local municipalities under Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new Shared Services Property Tax Savings Plan.
Under the new guidelines established in the recently approved New York State Budget, Garnar will Chair the new Shared Services Panel in Broome County. The panel will be comprised of the Mayor or Supervisor from each city, town and village in Broome County. Local school districts are also invited to send a representative.
“It is important to get people in a room to discuss ways to save taxpayer money,” said Garnar. “The goal is to have a plan that works for everyone in Broome County.”
The first meeting of the Shared Services panel will be Thursday, April 13 at 10 A.M. at Cornell Cooperative Extension on Front St.
Additionally, the public is also invited to make recommendations at three public meetings. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 20, 2017 in the Decker Room of the Broome County Library from 5-7 P.M.
If the plan is approved it will be presented to the public in September, 2017.
