Broome County Executive Announces
Student Board of Advisors
Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Jason Garnar today announced the formation of the Student Board (SBA).The SBA will be the first youth delegation that is completely student-driven in Broome County Government.
“The Goal of the SBA is to bring young people in our community together,” said Garnar. “They will help local government better act on its responsibility to develop ideas and initiatives that make Broome County a great place to live, work and study”
The SBA’s mission is to promote real youth civic engagement and to work on ideas on keeping young people with college degrees in Broome County after they graduate college.
The SBA will be made up of student representatives from SUNY Broome, Binghamton University, Davis College and the local high schools.
There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Broome County Library from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. and will be led by Brianna Cea, founder of the SBA. School districts and interested students are invited to attend, gather information and learn about the application process.
