Broome County to Facilitate Flood Debris Removal in Affected Areas

Broome County to Facilitate Flood Debris Removal in Affected Areas

On July 24, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar declared a State of Emergency for those areas affected by flash flooding. After surveying the impacted areas, County Executive Garnar issued this declaration to facilitate debris removal.

Broome County is working with the Town of Vestal and Taylor Garbage for this initiative.

Dumpsters have been placed in four locations in Vestal:

Tharp Street

Richards Avenue

Grand Avenue

Kintner Estates

Homeowners may utilize these dumpsters for flood debris. Only flood debris can be placed in the dumpsters. Taylor Garbage will be picking up the dumpsters on Friday, July 28 and Broome County will be waiving the tipping fees at the landfill.

Homeowners may also apply for a waiver of the tipping fees at the Broome County Landfill for flood debris through Friday, July 28th. Applications are available at Vestal Town Hall.

Normal Landfill rules apply. Flood debris only. No electronics, no white goods (refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, etc...) and no hazardous materials.
