Broome County Announces New Administrator of Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center


(BINGHAMTON, NY)Broome County Executive Jason Garnar announced today the appointment of Ryan LaClair as Administrator of Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

LaClair has moved to Broome County from the Watertown area where he was most recently the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator at The Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage. In his position, he was able to raise the CMS Quality Measures of the 90 bed facility to a five star rating.

He has also served as administrator at Absolut Care in Endicott and worked as a Mental Health Counselor at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. LaClair has a Masters of Science degree in Health Care Management from Utica University.

“I am very excited to have accepted the position of Administrator at Willow Point Nursing Home. I am eager to work with the exceptional staff to continue to provide the outstanding level of care for which Willow Point is known,” said LaClair, “My passion is in long term care and I plan to work diligently to make Willow Point the one of the best places to live and to work. LaClair, his wife and three children will be residing in Vestal.

Denise Johnson has been acting as Interim Administrator since June when former administrator Kevin J. Carey resigned. Johnson served as Administrator at Vestal Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

“I cannot thank Denise enough for stepping in as Administrator the last few months. She cares about this community and has worked exceptionally hard to help Willow Point,” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. “She is a breath of fresh air and was able to make many non-biased decisions for Willow Point. I wish her the absolute best.”

“While serving as interim administrator at Willow Point, I have had the pleasure of working with a very caring, hardworking team.  I have personally experienced their dedication and determination and have been impressed with the care and concern they put forth on a daily basis.   I believe that Ryan has the skills, personality and ability to provide the leadership that Willow Point needs to continue the legacy of quality long term care for the elderly in our community.”

Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Home is located on Old Vestal Road in Vestal. It has 300 beds and includes specialized rehabilitation services, a secure memory care unit, compassionate hospice services and quality skilled nursing services. The facility opened in 1971.

Garnar’s appointment of LaClair is pending approval by the Broome County Legislature.
