Have Your Say In Improving Broome County Parks

Broome County is preparing its first ever plan for County parks and we need to hear from residents and park visitors.  The Parks Plan will be used to guide capital investments in the parks, apply for grants, develop new recreation programs and more.  To have your say, take our online survey at broomecountyparks.questionpro.com.

One lucky survey taker will receive a Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card!  So far, over 800 residents have taken the survey and answered questions like:

What recreational activities are you most interested in?

What parks do you visit the most?

How would you rate the facilities and services?

What events do you attend?

How would you spend limited funds to improve the parks?

Broome County has already received many constructive ideas on how to improve the parks. Some of those ideas and suggestions we’ve heard so far are:

“Parks are at or near the top of the list for reasons to live, work, and raise a family in the Southern Tier. Our parks are second to none. Free access to county parks is a valuable asset for residents and needs to be maintained.”

“Zip lines, bike trails, outdoor programs!”

“Aqua Terra needs better trail markers and maps. Put accurate trail maps on the Broome County Parks website.”

“I love the opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Greenwood. The staff is always super friendly and helpful!”

“Please allow ‘Nature’ to use our natural resources while allowing the public to enjoy alongside. Conserve, preserve, minimal disturbance.”

“Broome County Parks are a pure gem. They should be strongly promoted luring visitors to our area and should be used to recruit economic development.”

“We are an aging population.  Please don't forget the handicapped”

“I think It would be wonderful to have a DOG PARK area.”
